While waiting to be shipped off to Vietnam, four young U.S. Army recruits are forced to confront their own fears and prejudices when it's revealed that one of them is gay. This powerful 1983 drama was directed by Academy Award-winner Robert Altman. David Rabe wrote the screenplay, based on his award-winning Broadway play (which was also nominated for a Tony Award). Starring Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket), Mitchell Lichtenstein, Michael Cartwright (Oz), George Dzundza (Crimson Tide) and David Alan Grier in his first on-screen role.
